I am at the very beginning of my 6 month work assignment in Australia. So far, I have spent most of my time getting used to my surroundings and to working. During my stay here, I will be working quite a bit, however I do plan to get out and enjoy myself as much as I can.
Last friday I went apartment hunting with a women hired to help me and actually found an apartment. It is in a great location and I can't wait to move in.
Yesterday, I ventured down to the pier in St. Kilda and watched some of the penguins come in. Apparently back in the 50's a breakwater was built for the Olympics held here. Not too long after it was built, some of the penguins from Philip's Island decided to live over here. Little by little more migrated over and now about 1000 penguins live in this area. They are so cute!! I attached a picture I took of one. :)
Tonight I was planning on venturing out again for a walk, but decided at the last minute not to go out. I made a great decision since it started pouring minutes after I sat down in my hotel restaurant for dinner. I would have been soaked!
This weekend is going to be fairly low key. I'm working on Saturday and am planning on attending family day at work on Sunday. I already can't get away from the place. :)
Cute penguin!
