Mary Poppins

To continue with my very busy week, I went to a stage production of Mary Poppins tonight.  Mary Poppins is one of my favorite movies and has been since I was a kid.  So I decided to go see it.  Some of my co-workers were there, but I was not seated near them since I got my ticket later.  The show was absolutely wonderful and better than I expected.  Several scenes were different than the movie; however the basic storyline was the same.  I was a bit disappointed that the scene in the countryside was changed though since the penguins in the movie were favorites of mine.  The scene with Uncle Albert and the tea party on the ceiling was also removed.   The stage production included some new characters, scenes and songs, including Practically Perfect and Being Mrs. Banks.  Of course, they could not cut my favorite, A Spoon Full of Sugar.  The sets were absolutely beautiful and I was very impressed that Mary actually "flew" over the audience.  I was not directly under her, but had a fairly good vantage point until she went over the balcony.   It was a very good production and definitely worth the money.  I am glad I was able to see it.
